America Georgina Ferrera, a Honduran-American actress who was born on April 18, 1984, is the Emmy winner for her performance as the principal character in Ugly Betty. She has also appeared in Real Women Have Curves and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The sequel Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 and The Dry Land. In 2005, she played an appearance in the skateboard biopic Lords of Dogtown. She also is voice actor and voiced Astrid in How to Train Your Dragon. Ferrera was the first Latina ever to win in this category by winning an Primetime Emmy Award in 2007 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. At the time, she was just 23 years old. She is the youngest Emmy winner in this category. In July 2007 she completed filming on The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 which was the sequel to the 2005 film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants as Carmen. She also provided the voice of one of the fairies from nature in Tinkerbell (2008). The Dry Land, which was a premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010 It was also screened at Dallas International Film Festival. It won the Filmmaker Award For Best. Ferrera was introduced to Ryan Piers Williams for the first time when she was directed by him in a student film at University of Southern California. The couple got engaged in June of 2010. He surprised her with an engagement ring believed to be worth $70,000.
