Naomi Watts

Watts (born 28 September 1968) is a British actress from the UK. After her
family moved to Australia, she made her film debut in the drama For Love Alone
(1986) followed by appearances in three television series, Hey Dad.. (1990),
Brides of Christ (1991), and Home and Away (1991) as well as in the movie
Flirting (1991). After arriving in the United States, Watts initially was not a
successful actress, performing in small-scale movies until she appeared in
David Lynch's psychological thriller Mulholland Drive in 2001 as an aspiring
actress. This role started her rise to fame internationally. Watts was then
cast as a tortured journalist in The Ring (2002). The film was nominated for
the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of a grieving mother in
the Alejandro film 21 Grams (2003). Her profile continued to grow with her
leading parts in I Heart Huckabees (2004), King Kong (2005), Eastern Promises
(2007), as well as The International (2009). Watts was also nominated for the
Academy Award as Best Actress for her performance in The Impossible (2012). In
the decade of 2010 she appeared in films as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014),
While We're Young (2015), The Glass Castle (2017) and Luce (2019). Watts
continued her acting career by making major roles in blockbusters, including
Divergent (2015-2016).
